Authentic Japanese ASHIATSU® in Tokyo Sokuatsu Souke™

足圧宗家® — Sokuatsu Souke™
The Japanese Lineage House of ASHIATSU®.

Sokuatsu means “foot pressure.”
Souke means the head family or lineage house.
Sokuatsu Souke™ is the romanized reading of 足圧宗家®.

Not ordinary barefoot massage.
ASHIATSU® at 足圧宗家® / Sokuatsu Souke™ is a Japanese bodywork system of bamboo, gravity, body axis and refined foot pressure.

足で踏むのではない。
竹棒を介し、体軸を整え、重力を静かに通す。
それが、足圧宗家®の ASHIATSU®/アシアツ®です。

Chapter 01

What is ASHIATSU® at 足圧宗家® / Sokuatsu Souke™? ASHIATSU® is not merely stepping on the body.

In many countries, the word Ashiatsu is known as a form of barefoot massage. Some styles use overhead bars, wall bars or other supports to apply broad pressure with the feet. These methods may be valuable in their own context.

However, ASHIATSU® at 足圧宗家® / Sokuatsu Souke™ is not the same as ordinary barefoot massage or spa-style deep pressure.

It is a Japanese bodywork system that uses the sole of the foot, a handheld bamboo staff, body axis, breath, gravity and subtle movement linkage. The purpose is not to press with force, but to guide pressure deeply and quietly through the body.

Not force.
Not weight alone.
A quiet passage of gravity.
Chapter 02

Global barefoot bodywork and Japanese ASHIATSU® Similar in appearance, different in lineage, structure and purpose.

Barefoot bodywork exists in many cultures. India, Thailand, China, Japan and other regions have their own traditions of using the feet, body weight and movement to work with the human body.

For that reason, Sokuatsu Souke™ does not claim that every form of foot-based bodywork belongs to one country or one school.

But ASHIATSU® at 足圧宗家® / Sokuatsu Souke™ is a distinct Japanese system. It carries the name of foot pressure, the memory of family transmission, the discipline of posture and gravity, and the clinical refinement of decades of practice.

Chapter 03

The Bamboo Staff Not a decoration. A moving axis.

The bamboo staff used in Sokuatsu Souke™ is not a decoration. It is not merely a tool to prevent falling.

It supports the practitioner’s body axis, controls balance, adjusts the angle of pressure and allows gravity to pass through the sole of the foot without becoming rough or excessive.

From martial staff to bamboo staff

In the older practice, a heavier wooden staff, similar in feeling to a martial arts staff, was used. It carried a sense of strength, but in the treatment space it was heavy, hard and not always convenient.

Later, bamboo was adopted because it was lighter, more flexible and more suitable for delicate bodywork. Bamboo carries both strength and softness. It supports the practitioner without making the pressure violent.

This change shows the spirit of Sokuatsu Souke™: tradition is not displayed as an ornament. It is refined through the body, through safety, and through the actual needs of the person receiving care.

The bamboo staff does not make the technique easier.
It makes the movement more precise.
Chapter 04

Why it reaches deeply without force Strong pressure is not the same as deep pressure.

Many people imagine that foot pressure must be strong, painful or heavy. Sokuatsu Souke™ does not think this way.

Depth is not created by force alone. It is created by the angle of the sole, the movement of the center of gravity, the axis of the practitioner, the timing of release, and the response of the receiving body.

The practitioner does not simply step down. The practitioner reads the body, controls gravity, changes the surface of contact, and allows pressure to enter only as deeply as the body can receive.

Body Axis

The practitioner’s posture creates stable and quiet pressure.

Gravity

The pressure is guided, not forced, through the body.

Foot Surface

Point, line and surface are used according to the condition of the body.

It may look strong.
In truth, it is delicate.
Chapter 05

Family memory and Japanese discipline The Rachi family, inheritance and the body.

Sokuatsu Souke™ is not only a treatment menu. It is connected to the memory of the Rachi family, the teachings received from the previous generation, and the long refinement of clinical practice.

The Rachi family has roots in Yaizu, Shizuoka, Japan. Family memory tells of old documents, regional standing and a lineage carried through generations. At the same time, Sokuatsu Souke™ does not claim that ASHIATSU® itself is directly written in those old family documents.

What has been inherited is not a legend for decoration. It is the discipline of the body: posture, gravity, restraint, quiet strength, and the ability to reach deeply without damaging the person.

The technique also carries the memory of what was inherited from the father, Hiroji, and from the mother, Kiyoe. It was not received as a commercial product. It was received as something that should not disappear.

To protect the name is to protect the technique.
To protect the technique is to preserve what was inherited.
Chapter 06

Names, lineage and clear distinction ASHIATSU® is not a word to be used lightly.

The names ASHIATSU®, アシアツ®, 足圧宗家®, 足圧技®, 足圧師範® and 足圧療法士® are treated with care by Sokuatsu Souke™.

The purpose is not to attack others. The purpose is to prevent confusion.

A similar name, a similar appearance or the simple act of using the feet does not necessarily mean the same lineage, theory, training or quality.

Sokuatsu Souke™ protects these names because the names hold the technique. The technique holds the theory. The theory holds the memory of what has been inherited.

For therapists and bodywork practitioners outside Japan, Sokuatsu Souke™ plans to prepare a proper path for learning ASHIATSU®.

This path should not be a casual short course that allows anyone to use the name freely. The names, techniques and theory must be protected carefully.

Future programs may include introductory workshops, foundation courses, practitioner training and instructor-level study. Use of the names ASHIATSU® and related terms should be based on clear rules, training standards and permission.

Before spreading the name, define it.
